Loyalty, it's a two way street.
I would not be remise in saying everyone should expect
loyalty from the people they’re around. If not they certainly should not
continue to be around those people. What’s funny to me is when people demand
loyalty whilst they are unwilling to give it. There is no better place to
explore this particular anomaly than in the genre of rap music. Don’t worry
this will not be a rap bashing piece. In fact I’m a big fan, yet the Libra in me
cannot stand the hypocrisy! In terms of gender relations you have some rappers
who see fit to condemn women from some mythical high horse. For example there’s
a particular song by one of my favorite rappers J. Cole called No Role Modelz.
The thing that gets
me about this song is that like many people he takes time to point out the
faults in others while conveniently overlooking his own. He speaks to the fears
that all decent people face, being used. No one wants to be used. No one wants
to be vulnerable. The wrong way to deal with the possibility of being
vulnerable is to mistreat others because unbeknownst to you they have their own
damn issues. Rappers are so quick to condemn groupies as hoes but say nothing
to condemn the drug dealers poisoning the streets they grew up on. All the
while it’s the pimp culture and street values that puts fathers in jail creating these so called hoes and the men who hate them. Also I find it ironic that men often call women who don’t
charge them a damn nickel hoes. Guys that’s just ungrateful, whores charge you
upfront.
I get it, the money
and the fame gives one a God complex. This of course will nurture the
feeling that everyone is shooting for the king. It would seem the obvious
answer to this is to seek a queen. I don’t mean the archaic belief that any man
or women is ordained by god to rule over others. Instead one should seek to
find there equal or that person that compliments them. So if you’re a world
famous rapper who feels plagued by hordes of groupies trying to seduce you for
your money, here’s a novel idea, just say no. You can turn down the nookie.
If you feel that you’re
so much better than a groupie hoe you wouldn’t be messing with them. YOU ARE
WHO YOU LAY WITH! So to recap women who sleep with you for free are not called
whores. You may use the word, slut, tramp, skank, trollop, floozy, or skeezer
just remember if you do and you lay with them what does that make you? You have
no moral high ground by having sex with someone and dogging them. Also you have
no moral high ground by making sex unenjoyable because you don’t particularly
like who YOU CHOSE to lay with. Check the lyrics blow…
“This bitch'll make you call your girl up and tell her
"Hey, what's
good?
"Sorry I'm never
comin' home, I'mma stay for good"
Then hang the phone up, and proceed to lay the wood
I came fast like
9-1-1 in white neighborhoods
Ain't got no shame
bout it”
No shame! I want to
take my pleasure and not give any. I don’t care if I’m bad in bed, in fact I’m
doing it one purpose. Really grow up people. Because if you want to deal with
someone who likes you for you and not your name then you might want to deal with
a female you like for who they are and
not their ass. Mr. Cole names several women he feels he is too young for but in
reality it’s not about his age but state of mind. Just like every women who
complains about there being no good men over looked a young brook J. Cole,
their were plenty nerdy, unfashionable, not overtly sexy “good girls,” J. Cole
fucked over in his past. You don’t get a pass because you’re a man. Take
responsibility for your own bullshit.
