Weed, Booze, and Comedy
So as an anthropologist I have always been one for studying
humans and our nature. Well I went to this comedy show where they had performed
an experiment. They had a total of 6 comedians which they broke into 3 teams.
The first team was drunk, the second was stoned, and the last were completely
sober. Based on the audience applause, they were judging to see which team of
comedians was funnier. What I took away from this was more than just what was
displayed at face value. Now I observed the drunken team performed with no inhibition.
They seemed to be in great spirits and just put their material out there. The
stoned team was super chill, a little awkward, and easily lost track of
time/sentences. The sober team was funny, but to me they lacked the appropriate
energy and looked more nervous than the other two. The drunken team ended up
winning. (I'm in no way suggesting that
you should go partake in any substances FYI.)
What I learned from this was the importance of ENERGY. The people who had been
drinking weren’t shy, they weren’t afraid or hesitant. Their excitement was
contagious and that is what the audience was enjoying! The team that was high wasn’t
bringing enough energy because they were so relaxed and appeared a little self-conscious
about their jokes. So although their material was funny, we didn’t laugh as
hard. The sober team also had some funny jokes but they also didn’t have enough
energy and appeared less confident because they were fully aware of the
audience.
Like my fellow blogger #TheMadScribe wrote about in her blog
about sixth senses, (here’s the link to check it out Sixth Sense/Gut Feelings), people feed off of each
other’s energies. That is why you can tell how others are feeling or thinking
without the exchange of words. The concept of “vibes” is a real thing. That is
why you can feel if someone is or isn’t someone you should be around. So when
you work on being a positive person and smiling or generally feeling good about
being blessed to have air in your lungs and see a new day, other people can
feel/sense that goodness you are releasing in your aura. You will find that you
will attract not only others but people that are like you! Hence the concept of
misery loving company. So if you want to have good people around you, the first
thing to do before you even walk out that door is to get yourself in a good
place.
Just go try this for a week. If in a week’s time you don’t
notice that a better attitude isn’t making anything better in your
social/occupational/romantic/personal life well no harm no foul. If all else,
you just had a great week! Don’t let yourself be the victim of another person
with bad vibes, they just want you to join their pity party and . . .
AIN’T NOBODY GOT TIME
FOR THAT!
