To boldly go where no man has gone before!
The universe is vast
and endless and mere mortals know not a fraction of its wonders. The reason
being that they are stifled by fear. Despite man’s endless capability when it
comes to progress mankind tends to go along kicking and screaming. We often
believe any new knowledge must contradict our belief in god which brings
progress to a screeching halt. For instance Darwin’s theory of evolution states
that first came the creatures of the water that ventured onto land and the
bible states that god created the creatures of the sea and the air before any
other creatures and yet people feel these theories contradict each other when
they’re actually saying the same thing. Funny man Katt Williams put this in
perspective when he said, “How can they say we come from monkeys when monkey
STILL EXIST. What are they the retarded monkeys that didn’t get to become people?”
But humans are petty
thinking beasts so they take any excuse to be the animals they barely evolved
from. If you haven’t noticed by now Brittany is no longer holding the reins. Being
that the topic pertains to other worlds and beings it is only appropriate that The
Scribe should chime in. It is not
foolish to believe in god. We’d be animals without belief in a higher power, in
goodness, greater wisdom, and morality. Also it is not sacrilegious to ponder
the mysteries of the universe. Both science and religion have much to teach us.
Science explains the wonders of religion that we were once to juvenile to
understand. Yet mankind is still in our infancy. Another comedian working for
the show South Park nailed it when they did a show about atheism. It began with
a transsexual male teacher vehemently protesting the teaching of Darwin’s
theory of evolution to his students and flinging poo at the interim instructor like
a monkey would. The aforementioned students were only being rational when they
asked, “Why can’t it be both, can’t evolution be the answer to how instead of
the answer to why?”
From the mouths of
babes. This episode of South Park went on to show a future where technology
reined and religion was no more but the world was still entrenched in war over
the name of what to call their atheist group. As silly as this program is, and
silly doesn’t equal bad, this message is very profound. We fight over the name
of God when we clearly all speak different languages so of course would all
call God something different. It’s actually really sick to use God’s name to
fulfill our want of petty violence but we’re idiots. And that is why the aliens
don’t visit us. Now know if you’re a skeptic I’m sure you feel this article
just got a little crazy but remember the world was once flat and that seemed
perfectly logical.
Remember to invite genius
is to invite madness. I’ll quote another funny man Dave Chappell and here I’ll
point out that I’ve used comedians to show that knowledge and silliness often
coincide. Dave Chappell was called crazy when he decided to forgo a fifty
million dollar deal at the height of his popularity. Of this he said, “People
always say something is crazy when they don’t understand it.” I agree with Mr.
Chappell but I’d say people say something is crazy when they don’t want to
understand it. Which is what gives births to sayings such as “Ignorance is
bliss.” As my longtime Cohort Brittany is fond of pointing out there are many
things we learned as children that are systematically stolen from us as adults
and one priceless weapon we relinquish is the power of imagination
It is a concept often dismissed and hippie dippie hogwash. But it reins true. God made us in his own image, we are both creators and conquerors. With the faith of a mustard seed we can in fact move mountains. Yet we stifle ourselves with fear and God said I did not give you fear. Only it is not with magic or hocus pocus that we achieve. It is with human ingenuity. Thousands of years ago it was unconceivable that man could fly but we did not accomplish the task by jumping from a building no matter how strong our faith. The Wright brothers used a scientific process to craft a machine. And that is the essence of progress, belief for the Wright brothers would never have achieved had they listened to the sound reasoning of nay sayers, and science for the task was not accomplish by jumping from high altitudes with no plan what so ever. One day mankind shall conquer the universe for it is our destiny but like the moral of the infamous Tower of Bable we must set aside our petty differences. We must go only with the blessing of god therefore with no ill intent and for no selfish gain. The universe is simply too vast for us to be alone and if we fear what is out there we’ll react and bedlam will ensue. We are not presently ready for full knowledge of the universe because we fear new knowledge. Scribe out.
