Toothless Dreams
Last night I had the craziest dream. I was at some sort of
festival and there was a lot going on, lots of random people milling about and
lots of policemen to keep the crowd controlled. The first thing I remembered,
because there was some stuff happening before I can’t recall, was trying to
find the car. As me and this random guy were looking for the car, I remember
people looking at us and wondering about why I was with this person and what
kind of car we had. We get to an empty space, he hits the key fob and an
invisible car materializes. Instead of taking this car we hop on a tandem bike.
Yeah I was thinking the same thing too. Who does that? So we ride off and he’s
not used to riding a bike with someone on the back and we almost fall over.
All this randomness isn’t the significant message of my dream
though. The entire time this random stuff is happening my teeth are getting
loose in my gums. I'm literally losing my teeth and they are filling up my
mouth. I keep spitting out teeth and I'm absolutely horrified. So the first
thing I did when I woke up was google what the meaning of losing my teeth in a
dream could mean. I found that it means a few things. First of which is a
transition. Coincidentally, I'm finally moving into a roommate free apartment in
the city in a couple of months and I'm pretty excited. Second it could also
mean insecurities centered on the transition. Absolutely true because although I'm
super excited about the move I have to figure out what I'm going to do, how I'm
going to make it all work and how will I make new friends in this new
environment. The third and final meaning is loss, so maybe mourning the loss of
someone or something in your life. It could also signify losing yourself such
as you felt when you were a child and loss your baby teeth.
So although my dream was pretty terrifying, apparently it only
meant I was nervous about being on the precipice of great change in my life. My
subconscious was expressing its anxiety and reserves about how the future will
pan out. I will be okay. I will figure it all out. All in due time.
