Livin la Vida Yoga

So about four months ago I started practicing yoga. Since then I have noticed many positive changes such as my body for one is a lot stronger, I have greater endurance, I’ve lost weight, my balance has improved and also my flexibility has increased. Those are just some of the physical changes. Mentally, I feel a lot more calm and able to focus.

I've always been a mixed between a realist and an optimist but I feel more positive about life and the aspects of it I have control over. Yoga is not just a “girl” or “eastern” thing. Doing yoga forces you to learn about yourself and your own body. It’s challenging and pushes you to push yourself to do things you didn’t know you could. I'm not saying you’re going to be able to put your leg behind your head in a month but you are always constantly working on things to improve. So you work hard to be able to get into a pose, then you have to work hard to be able to hold it for longer and longer.

Every class you have an intention you set for yourself. It’s going to be an ongoing work-out between your body and mind. You can do it though, and if you can’t today, work at it and eventually you will. It’s this type of attitude that is vital once you take it from your practice and apply it to your everyday life. While you just thought you just were working out, you cultivated patience, perseverance, dedication, and so many other virtues. So if you are up to the challenge and willing to take a chance on possibly improving your life/body sign up for a yoga class in your local community and check it out.
