Love And Pain

Alright so recently I went to this poetry slam and saw so many brave women telling their life stories in front of a live audience. So that inspired me to put my pain into words. The realest poems are about the things we go through in life that we share with others. The realest poems I heard that night made me not only feel some way but I had a physical emotional response to them. So I went home that night to weave a couple of my own little poems that you guys may appreciate. This is one of the them. Hope you guys like it!

You can handle the love, but you can’t stomach the pain.
but you caLove makes you euphoric as my tender words lift you up.
It fills you with a light that makes you feather-light.
My love gives you courage and faith to believe in yourself.
You can handle the love, but you can’t stomach the pain.
My pain.
Pain you caused me.
The pain that stripped the love and light out of my eyes.
The pain that filled my sleepless night with tears.
The pain of my self-evaluation that made it difficult to look at my reflection.
You can handle the love, but you can’t stomach the pain.
The pain that must be kept hidden.
The pain that is weakness.
The pain that is a burden.
The pain you refuse to deal with.
You can handle the love, but you can’t stomach the pain.
You won’t see it because it’s my pain.
Not your pain.
Pain you caused but don’t feel.
Can’t feel.
You can handle the love, but you can’t stomach the pain.
My pain that gives you guilt.
So you ignore it.
Force a mask on me to cover the pain underneath.
The hurt that creeps through the cracks of the façade.
My life becomes a farce in order that you may feel better.
You can handle the love, but  you can’t stomach the pain.
My pain becomes irrelevant so you can smile.
The pain, a tragedy, a satire, a stain upon your palm.
No matter how hard you scrub, it’s still here.
Out damn spot, but it’s still here.
You can handle the love, but you can’t stomach the pain.
