For the love of money

Money is the root of all evil. Many mistake this for the actual saying but the real thing goes much deeper than that. There’s nothing wrong with getting money so in the illustrious words of Katt William “By all means get yo paper Boo, Boo!” Hell you gotta eat. Plus you can’t walk around naked so you have to do something to put clothes on your back. Also there is nothing righteous about being lazy your whole life because the actual saying in 1 Timothy 6:10 goes  “But those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a snare and many foolish and harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs.”

So the love money of is A root of ALL SORTS of evil, not THE root of ALL EVIL. This shows that there is nothing wrong with reaping what you’ve sowed and getting what you rightfully deserve. The problem comes when your sole desire and motivation is money. It’s better to seek to provide some service to the world and do it so well that you can set your own price and prosper. Only now folks take not pride in what they do and don’t care whether or not they do something well as long as they get paid. As a matter of fact it’s perfectly acceptable to do bad things that harm people for money as long as you break the right people off with a piece of that cake, guap, cheddar and green.

It  seems in the world today that the more ruthless you are in your pursuit of the all mighty dollar the more props you get. Just remember that after all these years the devil has yet to change his tricks, he makes fools believe his meager rations are greater than God’s plentiful bounty. Even if you aren’t religious you must admit one must have a standard of what they will not do for money. Of course you can make yourself very well off it you are willing to do anything for money, harm or even kill anyone whether they be man, woman or even child. But how well would you live with money like that, always having to watch your back and never being able to get close to anyone for fear of redemption.

Let’s even take a lesson from one of my favorite childhood moves, surprisingly that's ‘The Playas’ Club’ featuring a young Bernie Mac, Adele Givens and Lisa Raye all from my hometown of Chicago. Not to mention Academy Award winner Jamie Fox and pioneer of Gangsta Rap Ice Cube. Lisa Raye’s Character wanted to break out on her own after becoming pregnant and refusing to abide by her parent’s rules so she ended up in the clutches of a Grimy strip club owner played by Bernie Mac who in the movie went by simply ‘Dolla Bill.’ Dolla Bill deemed Lisa Raye’s Character Diamond to symbolize her worth and put her to work bilking lonely men out of their hard on money.
But Diamond came to learn that there was no such thing as easy money when she followed the luscious lady viper Ronnie and her sidekick Trix (Adele Givens) down the rabbit hole into the seedy world of striping at The Playas’ club.

Some folks may have said this was not a suitable movie for a 14 year old girl to watch but coming from the mean streets of Chicago amongst those both desperate and unfortunate enough to do anything for money I was able to see the true lesson in this gritty tale. Diamond learned evil may come in the guise of even a pretty women promising riches and companionship while truly seeking to use and abuse you. Like when Ronnie got her drunk so she could rape her for the enjoyment of two wealthy on lookers.

Or when one of her regular customers became so enraptured in the fantasy he paid her for he thought it within his rights to follow her home. As Ronnie points out in the movie in order to make any real money stripping you have to be willing to take advantage of some very lonely and possibly disturbed men. Which will inevitably lead you to the place 1 Timothy Chapter Ten Verse Six warns of where “Harmful desires which plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil, and some by longing for it have wandered away from the faith and pierced themselves with many grief”. So in the words of ex-stripper Diamond “Make the money, don’t let it make you”
